Overview
Project Introduction
"Community Engagement through Service-Learning" is the title of this program that works on the issue of local urban farming this semester. The journey that we've gone through is shown by this title: we've engaged the young generation to raise their awareness of urban farming and organic life. Since we focus on marketing strategy, we've put lots of effort into promotion on Instagram and launching an online campaign. Before we've come out of the final solution, we were taught to make use of the Design Thinking method, while there's been lots of research and interviews conducted in order to identify the issues in the local agriculture. Therefore, we were able to generate ideas and solutions that can be applied to other urban areas outside Hong Kong in order to achieve sustainable development goals. Here's the start of our journey for this project as follows:
Design Thinking
Design Thinking is a creative and innovative thinking process. We use this method to find a solution to solve the needs of a community. We have listed the core concepts of design thinking as follow:

Who are they?
They are engaged in traditional agriculture, raising living organisms for food or raw materials
They own the farmed land or might work as a laborer on land owned by others
They also do retail services and sell their own crops
What are they doing?
Growing and accessing healthy, seasonal produce within the city
Transforming urban spaces into productive farms
Training and employment of the new generation of urban farmers
What are their objectives?
Improve planting technology and plant more kinds of crops
Researching the needs of the community and developing programs to meet those needs

Non-traditional Agricultural Practitioners

Who are they?
They are pioneering the urban farming movement
They are leaders of a greener lifestyle
They are a truly multi-disciplinary team and collaborate with architects, engineers, organic farmers, chefs and nutritionists to develop and deliver urban farming solutions
What are they doing?
Growing and accessing healthy, seasonal produce within the city
Transforming urban spaces into productive farms
Training and employment of the new generation of urban farmers
What are their objectives?
Try to revolutionise the food system and transform the relationship people have with their food
Achieve a more sustainable food ecosystem through urban agriculture
Aims to incorporate urban farms into city-dwellers’ lifestyles and make it commonplace.
