Prototype Development

This is the main process and the most important part of the whole project. From the low fidelity prototype to the final model and several testings with different communities, there are three main steps highlighted on this page. The low fidelity one was the very initial model that developed from the previous stage; however, throughout this journey, we have undergone many consultations and changes before coming out with a better prototype as the webinar we have held. We hope the prototype we did can really help the concerned community and increase the awareness of urban farming among the public. The prototype development in detail is shown as follows:

1. Low Fidelity Prototype

Initially, we decided to make a webpage for a periodical bazaar. We made a draft of prototype as shown in the picture in next page

Event

2.Event

As we kept developing our prototype, we had decided to turn our bazaar into an online event. And there was a turning point while we were developing our prototype. Here is the second draft of our prototype.

3.Event (Final Model)

After the failed draft of the event and keep on posting on social media, we thought it is still not an efficient way to do the promotion and marketing. Since the virus situation, we decided to connect the concept of urban farming and greener lifestyles. Here is the final model of our prototype.

Global Testing

Global  Testing

After the event, we were able to have a chance to share our event and the situation in Hong Kong to the student from Hope College in the USA. It was a golden opportunity for us to exchange information about the situation in other cultures.

We found that very few local farms exist in their community, so the main supply in the market is still dependent on external input. And the challenges of organic farming development were encountering similar challenges with us when it came to the young generation. Compared to Hong Kong, more Americans have their own yard or space for home farming.

Besides, from the comments by the Hope College, the format of the webinar of our event might not be able to engage the majority of the American teens. Instead, they suggested we promoting more on social media or filming on YouTube. Almost anyone has such an account, so it is able to approach the majority. Moreover, it would be better to combine the guest talk and bazaar together which will be more efficient to catch the younger generation's awareness
